The Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 is one of the best semi-auto shotguns on the market, and this build dual purposes beautifully between a range toy and a self defense weapon.
The Gun
This build receipe starts with a Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 Semi Automatic Shotgun. This is our favorite platform to start our shotgun builds with because it's

The Optic
The Aimpoint ACRO is a rugged enclosed emitter optic that can survive the recoil and wear/tear of using a 12 gauge shotgun. We prefer an enclosed emitter optic for these builds because the dot emitter cannot be obstructed by water or dirt when using the gun outside in the weather.
To provide a clean installed look we use a Reptilia optic mounting plate that replaces the no longer necessary picatinny rail and sets the red dot at a height that will cowitness witht he factory iron sights.
We also like that it comes in black or tan.
Furniture and Controls
We set the front of these shotguns up with a Briley 3-Gun M-LOK aluminum hand guard, Arisaka aluminum finger indexer, Surefire M340C light and tape switch in a Magpul M-LOK mount.
The finger indexer helps make sure you get your hand in the same place, lined up with the flashlight pressure switch, every time you pick up the gun.
The pressure switch for the Surefire Scout Light is momentary so the light is on whenever you are holding the switch down, and off when not. And we use a magpul M-LOK mount for a low profile clean install.
We also like to swap the factory charging handle out for the Briley upgraded handle as well for a more solid feel.
Sling it
The Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 comes with a removable rubber plug at the bottom of the stock that will accept a traditional QD sling end, and another socket at the front. We prefer the Magpul MS4 sling as it can easily switch back and forth between a 2 point and single point sling, and has a quick and easy to use length adjuster.
